About JiraniSoko
JiraniSoko is Kenya's neighbourhood online marketplace. It lets you buy, sell, and discover second-hand goods, vehicles, property, jobs, and local services within your ward or constituency. The name means "Neighbour's Market" in Swahili.
Yes. JiraniSoko is built specifically for Kenya and organised around Kenya's administrative geography — counties, constituencies, and wards. All prices are in Kenyan Shillings (KES).
Yes. Creating an account and posting listings is completely free. Optional paid features include promoted listings and advertising to reach more buyers across a wider area.
Yes. The JiraniSoko app is available for Android on the Google Play Store and for iOS on the App Store. It has all the same features as the website plus push notifications for new messages and offers.
Buying
Browse or search for what you need, filter by your location (ward or constituency), open the listing, and tap Chat with Seller to message them directly. You can also tap Make an Offer to negotiate the price. Payment and collection are arranged between you and the seller.
Use the location filter on any browse page to select your county, constituency, or ward. Listings are sorted by proximity so items closest to you appear first.
Yes. JiraniSoko has a network of delivery partners available in select areas in Kenya. When browsing a listing, look for the delivery option or ask the seller if they can arrange delivery through JiraniSoko.
Selling
Create a free account, tap Sell, choose a category, add photos, set your price, write a description, and pick your location (ward). Your listing goes live immediately and is visible to buyers in your area.
You can sell second-hand and new goods (electronics, clothing, furniture, appliances), vehicles (cars, motorcycles, trucks), property (houses, apartments, land for rent or sale), and post job vacancies or freelance work.
Yes. Go to your profile, find the listing, and tap Edit or Delete. You can update photos, price, description, or mark it as sold at any time.
Offers & Chat
On any listing marked negotiable, tap Make an Offer and enter your price. The seller can accept, decline, or counter your offer. All negotiations happen within the JiraniSoko app securely.
Yes. Messages between buyers and sellers are private and only visible to the two parties in the conversation. JiraniSoko does not share your contact details publicly.
Payments
JiraniSoko is primarily a peer-to-peer marketplace. Buyers and sellers agree on payment method directly — cash on collection, M-Pesa, or bank transfer. JiraniSoko does not hold funds between parties unless using the delivery service.
Jobs
Go to jiranisoko.com/jobs/ and filter by your location. Jobs are posted by local businesses and individuals across Kenya. You can apply directly by sending a message to the employer.
Yes. Create a business profile and post job vacancies for free. You can receive applications, review candidates, and communicate with applicants all within JiraniSoko.
Safety
Meet in a public place or a busy area for exchanges. Check the seller's rating and review history on their profile. Never send money before seeing the item. Report suspicious listings using the report button.
On any listing, tap the three-dot menu and select Report. On a user profile, tap Report User. Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours.
Account & Business
Visit jiranisoko.com/accounts/register/ or download the app. You can sign up with your phone number or email address. Registration is free and takes less than a minute.
Yes. Create a Business Profile to list products and services under your business name, manage multiple listings, and access advertising and promotion tools to reach more customers.
